• Lockdown Rock Night

Lockdown is a Monthly Rock/Metal Night – (usually) 2nd Friday of the Month at the Globe!

Playing a big mixture of alternative music from the 80s to the modern day, with a focus on the Rock/Metal genres.

As we’ve been running a few months now, you can see what we’ve been playing from the Playlists menu.  We can vary based on the crowd, we are also accommodating to requests.

Entry is £4 before 11.30pm and £5 after – however follow us on facebook for guestlist offers.

  • Lockdown Survey

Hello all.  Well, it’s been another great year for us.  As you’re probably aware, we did recently receive the news that the current management (and all staff) at The Globe were leaving at the end of the year, to be replaced by new tenants.

We’ve been looking at options on what to do about this – whether the new tenants would keep us on and whether we’d want to stay – or whether to use this as a good time to move somewhere more central or bigger should the option exist.

We’ve created a little survey for you and would like your feedback.  We’ll use this to try and gauge what you’d like to see and also what we do well and what we could do better.

It maybe takes 10 minutes to complete – and there’s also space towards the end for your thoughts if you think we’ve missed anything blatant.

The survey is semi-anonymous. This means we don’t get your name etc and don’t ask for it – but – be sensible, because we can trace abuse.

You can complete the survey here.

Thanks again for all your support.  We will see you soon.

  • Lockdown Recommends : Dog Fashion Disco + Psychostick

dfdposterRecommended Show : Dog Fashion Disco + Psychostick

Great show recommended that we’re sure many of you lot will love.

Dog Fashion Disco (first time in Newcastle) and Pyschostick (first UK tour) at The Cluny this Sunday 13th September.

Tickets are £15 advance or £18 on the door.  You can buy tickets from us at Lockdown on the 11th for £15 with no fees.  Hurray.

Alternatively, grab some from seetickets (link)

    Some music from both

    Dog Fashion Disco

The track ‘Albino Rhino‘ is a crowd favourite at shows. We also like ‘War Party’
Or why not check out the title track from ‘Ad Nauseum‘ (click song titles for links!)

    Psychostick

They’re probably most famous for ‘Beer is Good‘ – but we love the ‘Revenge of the Vengeance’ album – the whole thing, picking a favourite is like picking which of my children is the favourite. If I had children. Which I don’t. I hope.
OK. OK. We think you might like ‘Obey the Beard‘. That’s the first Psychostick song I heard and is actually why I booked them. That song. Make a note of it, it might come up in pub quizzes. Or, maybe, I think I get super feels from ‘Blue Screen‘ – it’s emotional. Plus ‘Bruce Campbell‘ is pretty funny. Not sure if Bruce sees it that way.

We think you’ll love it.  Do check it out and we’ll hopefully see you there 🙂

  • Slayer vs Disturbed : Duel Album Party

    Fight to the death!

Nah, that won’t be necessary 😉

We continue our series of album launch parties with a double-header of Slayer and Disturbed.  Yes, we know the Disturbed album is already out – but we haven’t had a Lockdown since it coming out and now.

It will of course be the day of release for Slayer, so you’ll be able to have a copy of it, in your hands, the day it comes out.

How our album parties work…  you get a regular Lockdown club night, 10pm-3am,  between 10pm and 11pm we drop in a few tracks from the chosen album(s) and then at around 11pm we give a copy away to somebody in the room. Simple.  It means if you like the bands, you can come down and stand a chance of winning – and if you don’t, then the night isn’t taken over by them.  Win/win.

The door deal is back to normal this month.  That’s £4 before 11.30pm or £5 after – alternatively, save yourself some coin by getting on our guestlist – those on the guestlist are in for £3 before 11.30pm.  To get on the list, write your name on the event wall here.

Hope to see you there 🙂

  • So – We did a podcast

You may (or may not) know that Kev does a weekly radio show for Goth and Industrial music on www.a1radio.co.uk

We don’t really advertise it to the Lockdown crowd, while there is a touch cross-over the music is often wildly different to what we play at the club night.

Anyway.  The chance came up for an extra show, we gave a shoutout on the Facebook page and got a few listeners 😉 but also took a recording so those who missed it could have the opportunity to listen again should they wish.   The focus is mostly on a lot of new music – stuff we wanted to share with you – so give it a listen to hear some stuff you may well like.
